The Caprivi Region is situated in the far North East of Namibia, covering a square kilometre of 14,528 in size. The Region borders Zambia on the east Botswana on the south, Zimbabwe on the East and Angola on the west. Green vegetation and floods that are seasonal making the eastern part of the region to be inaccessible for 6-8 months every year characterize it.

The region has a warm climate with a mean annual temperature of between 26-30 Celsius and the annual rainfall of 270 mm.

According to the 2001 population census the region has a population of 84215 with a growth rate of 1.8%

Caprivi is predominantly an agricultural region, with both cropping and livestock rearing. Crop and livestock production forms the economy base in the region where more than 50% of the economically active population is employed in the agricultural sector. The trade and service sectors in the urban areas provide employment outside the agricultural sector while manufacturing occurs on a small scale only. The proclamation of settlements, which is a priority with the MRLGH, encourages private entrepreneurs to invest in the region. The regional Council assists small farmers in obtaining access to markets to sell agriculture products on the open market. Other sources of income are self-help projects where people sell second hand clothes and fish on the open market.

Caprivi is an entry point to other SADC country and with the opening of the Zambia Namibia Bridge more tourists visits the region due to improved accessibility.
